iMiller Public Relations: Web Design

iMiller Public Relations wanted to update the aesthetics and increase the usability of their website to improve the user experience for their clients and partners.

Through research, analysis, and design studio sessions, I was able to work closely with iMPR’s developer to create and implement a high-quality, modern website that represented iMiller Public Relations’ brand and improved the online experience of their users.

The Design Process

Initial Research

To solidify expectations for the website, I conducted initial meetings with the main iMPR stakeholders for the project to understand their goals. I spoke with the CEO and her digital team that consisted of a developer, a marketing manager, and two account directors whose feedback would be crucial for each stage of the project.

These meetings provided me with insights on the following:

  1. The aesthetic goals of the website - a desire for clean lines, smooth curves, and vibrant colors.

  2. Websites of their competitors in the industry that the team were inspired by.

  3. The amount of content that would be displayed on each page, and what company information should be prioritized.

  4. Information about iMPR that sets their PR firm apart from their competitors in the digital infrastructure industry.

UX Audit

To understand the starting point of the redesign project, I conducted a heuristic evaluation of the initial site to understand quickly where the biggest areas for improvement were.

Highlighted below are the takeaways for the site’s landing, about, and expertise pages which the stakeholders deemed most important to assess first.

Website Information Architecture (IA)

After conducting my research and heuristic site evaluation, I decided that restructuring the site’s information architecture would be a good first step to help better reflect the content that iMPR wanted to display to its users.

This new global navigation allowed us to design pages for the site that were easy to find and categorize for both new and returning users.

iMPR Brand Guidelines

While designing even in the initial stages of the project, it was important to keep in mind iMPR’s brand guidelines including their iconography, typography, logos, and colors. Maintaining strong brand recognition while ensuring that the site was usable and accessible was emphasized by the client.

iMiller Public Relations: Before & After

By combining the feedback I received as well as elements of iMPR’s branding and style guide, I was able to create a website that addressed all of the stakeholders’ design concerns while satisfying their stylistic requirements. The finished site is responsive, accessible, and up-to-date with industry standards.

Home, Before

Home, After

  • Improved the global navigation and site organization, and switched its location from the left sidebar to the header.

  • Updated visual hierarchy to accurately reflect which page the user was on.

  • Swapped full-screen background image for a unique header image that is stylistically reflected across all pages.

About Us, Before

About Us, After

  • Improvements to site visuals added color and vibrancy to the page.

  • Layout of site content was reorganized to make it more engaging for the user.

  • Site copy writing was updated to best reflect iMiller Public Relations as of 2024.

Expertise, Before

Expertise, After

  • Page layout was improved by removing unnecessary links and formatting formerly linked content all on one page.

    • This improved the ease of use and allowed users to find relevant information faster.

Clients, Before

Clients, After

  • Page layout was updated to reflect overall site design.

  • Logos were updated to reflect current clients as of 2024.

  • Changed from ‘clients’ to ‘our community’ to better reflect the values that iMPR prioritizes.

The Outcome

By the conclusion of the project, iMiller Public Relations benefited from a new, innovative website that better represented their brand, clients, and the work that they aspire to do. The site now aligns with industry standards and with confidence can now be shown to future clients, partners, and others in the industry as a strong reflection of iMPR as a whole.
